|Product title:||Plasencia Alma Fuerte Sixto II|
The Plasencia family has grown into tobacco for five generations and is considered by the whole industry to be one of the largest producers of premium cigarettes in Nicaragua.
They also have control over three large plants and make brands under contract for many large third-party companies.
But the Alma Fuerte cigar represents the first big push from Plasencia to get their own brand (and their own name) in the market.
"All those years we have produced tobacco and cigars, but we have cut the best," said Nestor Andrés Plasencia, on a tufted leather sofa.
"We have missed the final consumer.
We had no connection with them.
And we did not have a big brand with our name on it.
Now we can make contact with the retailers and with the smokers.
Plasencia drew from his large library of old tobacco products to make the final mix for Alma Fuerte, which consists entirely of Nicaraguan tobacco.
The main ingredient is Criollo '98, but the Plasencias have planted this seed in Nicaragua.
Alma Fuerte is a mixture of tobacco from four growing regions: Estelí, Condega, Jalapa and Ometepe.
"It was not just me who mixed it," Plasencia assured. "It was a group of about five people, including my father."
